Everton vs Leicester Predictions
Everton managed to continue their hint of resurgence on Monday with a comprehensive 3-0 battering of the out of form Southampton. This made it three wins, one draw, and one defeat in their last five games. Their singular defeat did come in the Merseyside Derby, but they have managed to beat Arsenal at home and Leicester away as well.
This comes after a pretty dreadful portion of the campaign for them, but it finally looks like they are coming through the other side of that huge drop in performances. They are in 7th position in the Premier League as well, and although there are nine points between them and 6th placed Manchester United, they aren’t out of the running just yet.
Romelu Lukaku continues to steal the show for The Toffees. He bagged a goal and an assist on Monday night and now has 11 Premier League goals to his name this season. This is eight more than any of his teammates, and his influence going forward really can’t be overstated. Considering Leicester’s defensive record on the road I’d suggest him for our anytime goalscorer predictions at 1/1.
Leicester managed to pick up just their third Premier League point of the season away from home on Monday when they played out a drab and lifeless goalless draw at Middlesbrough. This makes it three draws and seven defeats in the Premier League away from home this season, and when you look at other competitions it doesn’t get much better.
They managed a win at Club Brugge in their Champions League opener in September, but apart from that they have lost eight and drawn four of their 12 away days. During this time they have conceded 26 goals and scored just eight, so it’s not been a great season, especially on their travels.
To make matters worse, they have lost a few key players to the African Cup of Nations. They will be without Daniel Amartey, Riyad Mahrez, and Islam Slimani for the next five weeks or so, which leaves a lot of weight resting on Jamie Vardy’s shoulders.
Everton have the advantage in terms of form, confidence, and home standing in this one, and I expect them to take advantage of this. Leicester are missing key players because of international duty and Everton looked back to their best on Monday against Southampton. Odds of 17/20 for the hosts to get the win look good value, so I’m backing that along with a 2-0 correct score predictions at 8/1.
