Fluminense vs Cerro Porteno Predictions
- Fluminense were 0-2 winners in last week’s first leg clash.
- Cerro Porteno have won just one of their last seven outings in all competitions, losing four.
Paraguayan limitations exposed
Fluminense were comfortable 0-2 first leg winners in Asuncion last week and Roger Machado’s men should coast their way through to the quarter-finals when they take on Cerro Porteno in this Wednesday’s second instalment.
Goals from Nene and Egidio at Estadio General Pablo Rojas have put Fluminense in a commanding position at the halfway stage of the tie, and while the Brazilians aren’t enjoying the best of seasons overall, it’s hard to envisage them slipping up based on how things panned out in Paraguay.
Fluminense have now won three of their last four Copa Libertadores games and have been beaten just once in this year’s competition overall, so Cerro Porteno face an almighty task in Rio as they seek to turn things around.
Last term’s Apertura champions are clearly a useful outfit, but their limitations at this level were seemingly exposed seven days ago and they could be picked off on Tuesday evening as they go chasing goals.
With an open and attacking contest likely as the visitors aim to get themselves back in it, we’re backing Fluminense to win again on the night and 3-1 appeals in the correct score market.
