A welcome distraction for Forest Green

Currently propping up the League One standings, Forest Green have bigger things to worry about than an FA Cup run, although victory here would see them seal their first third round appearance in club history.

They should realistically be confident of doing so at home to the lowest ranked side left in the competition, seventh-tier Alvechurch FC.

However, the visitors aren’t pushovers as they proved in the last round when defeating Cheltenham Town away from home, a side that sit eight points above Forest Green in League One!

A dangerous game to pick

Considering that four tiers of the English footballing pyramid separate these sides, it seems crazy that Forest Green are priced up at 2/5. That price probably represents value on the face of it, but Alvechurch have already proven that the magic of the cup is alive and well and on that evidence, we’re avoiding the W-D-W angle.
