      Gais vs Degerfors Predictions

GAIS lost half of their Swedish Superettan matches last season as they narrowly avoided being dragged into the relegation playoff positions, and whilst they have improved on this record they are still struggling to find victories.

They have only lost three of their 13 league matches so far this season, and two of those came at the beginning of the season in April. But their seven draws from these 13 matches has turned them into the draw specialists of the Superettan and could see them struggle if they run into a poor spell of form.

GAIS’ 3rd defeat of the season came last weekend as Varberg beat them 1-0, with that ending an eight match unbeaten streak which saw them win twice and draw six times. One thing to note is that all of GAIS’ defeats have come away from home, and on home turf they have actually managed to win half of their six matches.

Degerfors managed to break out of their five match winless streak last weekend with a 2-1 win over Trelleborg, but their return of five points from the last six matches hasn’t done much to quell the looming fears of a relegation battle. They come into this match one position outside the relegation playoff positions, with just a single point separating them from Orgryte and Ljungskile below them.

On the plus side, a win could send them as high as 7th in the table, but barring a miracle they will remain behind GAIS on goal difference.

A win is highly unlikely though. Away from home Degerfors have lost three of their six games, winning just once and drawing twice. They recently lost 6-0 to Sirius on the road as well, which will be a worry considering GAIS have managed a 7-0 thrashing of Angelholm at home this season.

Degerfors’ defence on the road has been a worry since the start, with them shipping 14 goals in their six away days. This has resulted in four of their six away days ending with at least three goals having been scored, so my prediction is for another high scoring game and an Over 2.5 Goals backing at 9/10. I’m expecting GAIS to take the points as well, so am going for a 3-1 correct score prediction at 12/1.
