Galatasaray vs Besiktas Betting Tips & Predictions

Galatasaray played out a rather lifeless goalless draw with Rizespor on Wednesday night as they held on to their 3-1 lead from the first leg of the Turkish Cup semi final to set up a cup final clash against arch rivals Fenerbahce.

A win in the final against their Istanbul nemesis would go some way to repairing the damage caused by their shocking league campaign. They come into the final three games of the league season all the way down in 6th in the Turkish Super Lig, and the highest position they can potentially attain is a marginally less disappointing 4th.

Judging by their recent form a 4th place finish is unlikely. They have only won two of their last 13 matches in all competitions and have lost four times. They have only won one of their last nine in the Super Lig as well.

Besiktas are in a much more favourable position than their hosts. They sit atop the Turkish Super Lig with a six point advantage over 2nd place Fenerbahce, although the chasing team do have a game in hand on them. However, a win against Galatasaray would edge them ever closer to winning the title for the first time since 2009.

The visitors are in good form as well, with seven wins, one draw, and one defeat making up their last nine matches in the Super Lig. Away from home they are a little less convincing though, as their record of three wins, three defeats, and two draws in their last eight trips away indicates.

Galatasaray may be struggling to win, but it doesn’t stop the Turkish giants from being incredibly difficult to beat at the fortress that is the Turk Telecom Arena. They have only lost once at home in the Super Lig all season and are on a 14 match unbeaten streak there. In all competitions they haven’t lost any of their last 22 outings at home.

This makes odds of 1/1 for a Galatasaray Win or Draw Double Chance look almost too good to be true, so I’m backing that along with a 1-1 draw at 13/2.
