Gil Vicente vs FC Porto Predictions
- Porto have won 14 of their last 16 away Primeira Liga contests.
- Porto have won six of their last seven competitive meetings with Gil Vicente in Barcelos.
- Gil Vicente have scored only once in their two home league games this season.
Porto not perfect, but good enough for Gil Vicente
Porto lost their air of invincibility last weekend when going down to Rio Ave, but Sergio Conceicao’s men should get back to winning ways at Gil Vicente on Saturday.
The champions stumbled to a 3-1 loss last Sunday – only the 18th time that Conceicao’s team had shipped three goals or more in 276 matches the coach has overseen, and only the fifth in the league.
Earning a win with a clean sheet will be the focus when they go to Barcelos to face a team that have had a difficult schedule this season. The Roosters’ Europa Conference League quest was ended by AZ before they got to the group stage and there has been a knock-on effect on their domestic results.
Roosters have scored a paltry three goals
Gil Vicente have won only one of their four league games and scored a paltry total of three goals, two of which came in a 2-2 draw at Vizela last Monday. Ivo Vieira’s men had established a two-goal lead early on in that one, so the draw left a bitter taste in their mouths.
Porto should overpower them here and it could be a low-scoring affair too. The Dragons have scored exactly two goals in each of their last three visits to Estádio Cidade de Barcelos and this feels like it could be another job-done scoreline of 2-1 or 2-0.
Given Conceicao’s side have kept clean sheets in nine of their last 13 league games – and six of their last nine on the road, the preferred correct score forecast is a 2-0 Porto win.
