Grimsby vs Crawley Town Predictions
With the season rapidly approaching it’s halfway stage, the table has already taken shape and sides are now well aware of what will likely be ahead of them for the rest of the campaign. This weekend, two out of form sides collide as Grimsby Town welcome a Crawley Town side to Blundell Park, with the winner taking a huge leap in the survival bid.
Grimsby Town’s October resurgence gave way to a run of three consecutive League 2 defeats that has left them 21st in the table and cautiously looking over their shoulders at the drop zone. The Mariners did manage to accomplish a morale boosting victory over MK Dons in the FA Cup last weekend in a result which went against the form book, but their 3-2 defeat at the hands on Newcastle’s Under 21 side midweek stumped any momentum they might have managed to build. Despite the run of poor form, they can take the positives out of five goals scored in their previous two matches.
Crawley have not won away from home since early September and they are without a win in their last five games in all competitions. Despite a solid start to the campaign, the visitors have slipped off the pace in recent weeks and they have dropped down to 12th place in League Two. A major cause of concern for boss Gabriele Cioffi is their inability to get a result on the road, as Crawley have managed just six points away from home, the fourth worst away record in the league.
With neither side looking exactly at their best at the moment, staying away from the win-draw-win market looks to be the smart play. Instead, given that Grimsby have recently re-discovered their scoring touch and neither side is exactly known for their strength at the back, it seems like the goals market is the way to go in this one. With this in mind, we think backing there to be over 2.5 goals scored is where the most value can be found.
