Only one point separates both Hamburger SV and Wolfsburg, who are all but mathematically safe for another season in the top flight. Hamburg have taken four points from their last two matches, with a 0-0 draw against top six side Mainz 05 and a 2-1 win over North-German rivals Werder Bremen in the “Nordderby”, leaving them five points clear above the relegation zone. If there were ever a time to favour Hamburg to break the chains on this nine match streak that Wolfsburg holds against them, it would be against this deflated, out-of-form and injury stricken Wolfsburg side. Hamburg have here a decent opportunity to finish as the top North-German side with a win against Wolfsburg this Saturday – the last time they were able to claim so was in the 2012/2013 season. Hamburg have, however, been very prone to errors defensively and have conceded at least one goal in each of their last three home matches in the Bundesliga. Combining this analysis and form trends with the statistics below, we expect Hamburg to win or draw with both teams to score to be the safe bet.
