Reason For Hertha Berlin vs Borussia Monchengladbach Predictions

  • Hertha Berlin are undefeated in each of their last three Bundesliga games.
  • Monchengladbach have failed to win three of their last four Bundesliga away games.
  • Monchengladbach have scored under 1.5 goals in nine of their 12 competitive away games.
  • Hertha Berlin have scored under 1.5 goals in each of their last five Bundesliga games.

Hertha Berlin’s improving form

Hertha Berlin are set to host Borussia Monchengladbach this Saturday in German Bundesliga action. Hertha will be hoping to end the first half of the season with a third-straight Bundesliga victory. Monchengladbach will also be hoping to earn three points in this game to keep themselves level on points with league leaders, RB Leipzig.

Hertha Berlin have not enjoyed the first half of the season, for the most part. Die Alte Dame looked to be heading for an unexpected relegation battle throughout the first half of the season. However, following the appointment of new manager Jürgen Klinsmann, Hertha have begun to accumulate points and drag themselves away from the relegation zone. Hertha have lost just one of four games since the appointment of Klinsmann as manager.

Hertha are unbeaten in each of their last three Bundesliga games. Furthermore, Hertha have won both of their most recent two Bundesliga games. Hertha’s improving form will give them encouragement heading into their final game before the Bundesliga’s winter break. They will be no pushovers for title challengers Monchengladbach.

Monchengladbach’s recent poor away form

An improving Hertha Berlin will be cause for concern for Monchengladbach, who have struggled away from home in recent weeks. Monchengladbach have lost three of their last four Bundesliga away games.

Monchengladbach’s away form has been poor in all competitions in recent weeks, failing to win six of their last eight competitive away games.

Monchengladbach have also struggled to score goals freely away from home this season. Monchengladbach have played 12 games away from home in all competitions this season. They have scored under 1.5 goals in nine of their 12 competitive away games. We feel Monchengladbach are likely to find Saturday’s trip to Berlin difficult.

Low-scoring all round?

Only four teams have scored fewer away goals than Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga this season. Seven of their 12 away games in all competitions have seen under 2.5 goals scored, while Monchengladbach have also scored under 2.5 goals in four of their last five Bundesliga games. Meanwhile, Hertha Berlin have scored under 1.5 goals in each of their last five Bundesliga fixtures. Only three Bundesliga teams have scored fewer goals than Hertha over the last six games. On top of that, Hertha have seen under 2.5 goals in four of their last nine Bundesliga games, including both of their last two Bundesliga games.

We feel this game is likely to be low scoring. Monchengladbach have not been scoring freely in recent weeks and their away goalscoring record has been poor of late. We feel they are unlikely to open the floodgates versus a Hertha side who have kept a clean sheet in their last two Bundesliga games. Similarly, we feel Hertha are unlikely to score many goals in this game.

Despite being low-scoring away from home, Monchengladbach have been solid at the back on their travels. They have conceded just seven goals in seven Bundesliga away games. This gives them the second-best away defensive record in the Bundesliga. We are therefore backing under 2.5 goals to be scored in this game. Overall, Hertha’s recent upturn in form is likely to make Saturday’s game tough for title-challengers Monchengladbach. Our correct score prediction is a 1-1 draw.
