Hertha Berlin vs Mainz Betting Tips

Hertha Berlin have really impressed this season. They finished last term just above the relegation playoff position in 15^th, with a tally of just 35 points from their 34 games.

But they approach the halfway point of the Bundesliga season with 29 points already, leaving them in a very impressive 3^rd position with a three point cushion over 4^th place Wolfsburg.

This is thanks to their consistent performance throughout this season. They haven’t lost more than one game in a row all season and have only failed to win two games in a row once.

Their last five fixtures have seen them win four and lose one, and they have won five of their seven home matches so far this season.

This is an excellent return for a side who were battling against relegation at the end of last season, and they will be hoping to end the first half of the season on a high so they can enjoy a well earned winter break.

Mainz haven’t enjoyed the same consistently good performances as Hertha Berlin, but they have made up for that over the past few weeks.

They come into this game on the back of a six match unbeaten streak in the Bundesliga which brought an end to their five match winless streak that preceded it.

This has seen Mainz also take up an improved position on last season, when they finished 11^th. They are currently just outside the Europa League qualification positions in 7^th. A win on Sunday could send them as high as 4^th, whereas a loss might see them fall as low as 10^th.

Hertha Berlin don’t settle for draws. They have only drawn once so far this season and that was back in September. I’m not expecting them to settle for a draw on Sunday either, and odds of 23/20 for a Hertha Berlin win look very good value to me.
