Hull vs Arsenal Predictions

Hull, despite being hit by injuries and not making any signings in the transfer window until very late on, have actually started their return to the Premier League very well.

They began the campaign with just 15 fit first team players and an interim manager. They are still fairly injury hit, but they made a few signings late on in the summer transfer window and, considering their start to the campaign, they will feel confident in their ability to remain in the Premier League.

Hull’s season kicked off with a surprise 2-1 win over Premier League champions Leicester, and they followed it with a 2-0 win at Swansea and a 3-1 win against Exeter City in the League Cup. Their first defeat came thanks to a last minute Marcus Rashford goal at home to Manchester United, but their performance was actually very good, as they fended off the in-form Manchester United.

Last weekend their performance dipped a bit though. They visited fellow newcomers to the Premier League Burnley, and a 72nd minute goal from Steven Defour put the hosts in front. However, Robert Snodgrass stepped up to the plate in the 95th minute to dispatch a free kick and level the scores, netting his 3rd goal of the season.

Arsenal played their part in,by far, the most exciting match of the opening Premier League weekend, but it didn’t end well for them. They went 4-1 behind at home to a clinical Liverpool, and despite two goals in the closing stages they couldn’t find an equaliser and dropped their first three points of the season.

Their second match was a much duller affair, as they visited Premier League champions Leicester and played out a goalless draw. They have since got their first wins of the season with a 3-1 victory at Watford and a 2-1 win over Southampton, and midweek saw them visit Paris for their first Champions League group game.

French champions PSG are a formidable opponent at the Parc des Princes, and many fans feared the worst as Edinson Cavani put the hosts in front just a minute into the game. However, the out of sorts Paris outfit couldn’t finish the game off despite a host of chances, and eventually Alexis Sanchez found an equaliser to take a point from their toughest Champions League group match.

However, Arsenal’s away form in the Premier League isn’t the best, and the fact that they had a midweek Champions League game is bound to have effected them. They have only won three of their last 12 away days in the Premier League, with two defeats and seven draws making up the rest of the results. Considering Hull’s promising start to the season, I think odds of 10/3 for it to end all square in Hull on Saturday are excellent value. I’m going for a 1-1 correct score prediction at 15/2 as well.
