Inter Milan vs Borussia Dortmund Predictions

Inter Milan are set to host Borussia Dortmund at the San Siro in this Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League fixture. This Wednesday’s game will see Group F leaders Borussia Dortmund take on bottom placed Inter. Despite these teams’ contrasting starts to the campaign, we feel that this will be a closely contested game.

Recent form in the Champions League suggests that Inter will struggle in Wednesday’s game. Inter have failed to win each of their last 6 Champions League games. Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund are yet to concede in the Champions League this season. Furthermore, Dortmund have kept a clean sheet in 7 of their last 10 Champions League games. 

It is clear that Dortmund’s European defensive record has been impressive of late. However, Dortmund have been far less impressive at the back domestically this season. Dortmund have conceded 11 goals in 8 Bundesliga games. This is the worst defensive record in the top half of the Bundesliga table. 

Dortmund’s domestic defensive record may provide a more accurate indication of their defensive ability at present. We feel that Dortmund will struggle to prevent Antonio Conte’s Inter side from scoring at home. 

Despite struggling in Europe, Inter have impressed at the beginning of this first season under Antonio Conte. Inter have scored a total of 18 goals from 8 Serie A games this season. This leaves them with the second highest goal scoring tally in the Serie A, only trailing Atalanta. 

Inter have also impressively won all but one of their 8 Serie A games this season. Conte has currently got a 70% win% in all competitions from his first 10 games in charge of Inter. Inter have not shown their best in Europe yet this season. However, these sleeping giants should not be underestimated. 

Dortmund have won just 2 of their last 6 games. We feel that they will struggle this Wednesday versus Inter. Paco Alcacer and Marco Reus have scored 12 of Dortmund’s 24 goals in all competitions this season. They will both miss this upcoming game for the visiting side. 

We feel that Conte and Inter will sense the vulnerability of this Dortmund side. Wednesday’s game will provide Inter as good of a chance as they could have, to beat Borussia Dortmund. 

We feel that Inter’s chances of taking a result from Wednesday’s game are good. We feel that Inter, draw no bet is worth looking at for this game. 

Both teams have scored in Inter’s last 4 games in all competitions. There have also been over 2.5 goals scored in all 4 of these games. Meanwhile, both teams have scored with over 2.5 goals being scored in 3 of Dortmund’s last 5 games. 

We feel that both teams will get on the scoresheet in this Wednesday’s fixture. We feel that a 2-1 win for Inter has a good chance of occurring in this game.
