Inter Milan vs Fiorentina Betting Tips

It’s the most intriguing match-up of this weekend’s round of Serie A ties pitting first place Inter Milan and second place Fiorentina against one another. It’s still early days, but both sides will be viewing this match-up as an important litmus test, by which they’ll probably measure themselves moving forward.

Inter Milan fans always wanted to believe that they could be more competitive this season, most hoped that this club would return to European football, few dared to believe that they could seriously challenge for the Serie A title. We’re guessing that a few more believe now after Inter Milan started the season with five straight wins and significant rivals have struggled.

Roberto Mancini is having things exactly how he likes them right now. His team has conceded just one goal through six games, they’ve played near perfect defensive football and they’ve only needed to score six goals to pick up those wins.

Fiorentina hasn’t done anything spectacular in terms of their attacking performances with seven goals through five games, but they’ve started the season by winning four of five and they are a side that regularly controls possession and creates high levels of pressure. They’re the toughest challenge to Inter Milan’s record so far this season.

1. Possession control

It won’t be an easy task to out-muscle or suffocate Fiorentina’s midfield. They’ll keep much more possession than other Inter opponents this season and it’ll put pressure on Mancini’s system.

2. We’ve seen this before

You can set yourself up to defend and enjoy some success, but you’re asking for trouble by doing it too often. It won’t be an easy game for Fiorentina, but we think Inter are due to concede another goal.

3. Don’t under-estimate Fiorentina’s defence

They’ve conceded just three goals through five games and we don’t think it’ll be as easy to steal a goal against this side as it was against Chievo and more recently Verona.
