Inverness CT vs Kilmarnock Predictions

Inverness CT started the season in pretty poor fashion as they dropped points in the Scottish League Cup group stages and then lost their first three Scottish Premiership matches on the bounce, with the added bonus of getting knocked out of the League Cup at Alloa Athletic.

However, they managed to turn it around when they beat St Johnstone 2-1. They still struggle to win, but their 1-0 defeat at home to Rangers last weekend was their first loss in six matches, with three of them being draws.

Inverness CT have improved defensively during this stretch, after conceding ten goals in their opening three league games. They have conceded just seven in the six games since then, whilst still maintaining some level of attacking threat. Their biggest attacking threat so far has been midfielder Ross Draper with three goals to his name, whilst fellow midfielder Liam Polworth has two goals and a host of players have single goals to their name. Two of Draper’s goals have come at home as well, so he’s one to watch, although he has also picked up three yellow cards at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium.

Kilmarnock managed to keep their first clean sheet of the season last weekend, which was made all the more impressive due to them going into a match at St Johnstone having conceded ten goals in their last two matches.

The 1-0 win they carved out of that match ended a six match winless streak for them, but they remain down in 9th position in the Premiership table. A win here could put them six points clear of the relegation playoff zone that they ended in last season though, so it’s looking like progress.

Unlike Inverness CT, Kilmarnock have a couple of strikers that they can rely on to bang in goals. This is much more preferable than a midfielder being your main port of call. Young striker Souleymane Coulibaly has netted four times in the league this season and his veteran partner Kris Boyd has three. Three of Coulibaly’s four goals have come away from home as well, and he has netted three in his last five games. One of these was an absurd 40-yard wonder goal in their 6-1 thrashing at Celtic as well, so the boy definitely has talent. Backing him to score anytime at 13/5 with bet365 looks a very good value bet, considering he has netted 60% of Kilmarnock’s away goals this season.

It’s made even better by the fact that Inverness CT haven’t kept a clean sheet in the Premiership this season. The hosts have only failed to score in one of their five home matches though, whilst Kilmarnock have conceded in all but one of their league games this term and scored in all but two of them. Away from home the visitors have only failed to score once, so backing Both Teams to Score at 4/5 looks a very good value bet. I’m going for a 1-1 correct score prediction at 13/2 as well.
