Ipswich vs Birmingham Betting Tips

Ipswich’s fairly solid start to the season all went out of the window at the end of August. They lost 3-2 at home to Brighton and Hove Albion and following it up with a 5-1 mauling by Reading.

But they managed to pick themselves up on Tuesday night when they beat Leeds 1-0 away from home, a result that took their points tally to a decent 13 points from their opening seven games.

This puts them in the playoff position in the Championship in 5^th position, one spot above where they finished last season.

Eventual playoff winners Norwich eliminated them in the semi finals of the playoffs, but it looks like Ipswich will be pushing on for another top six finish this term.

Birmingham were enjoying an unbeaten start to the season until Tuesday. They had won five of their seven competitive games so far this season, but a 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest ended this impressive start.

This leaves them with 11 points from their opening six games in the Championship, and a win on Friday could see them move as high as 2^nd position in the table.

This is already a vast improvement on their 10^th place finish last season, and at the moment they definitely look good value to push for promotion this season.

But a game away at Ipswich won’t be a walk in the park by any means. Ipswich haven’t lost any of the last seven meetings between these two clubs. Three of them have ended as draws, but Ipswich have won all of their last three home games against Birmingham.

Ipswich have managed to find the back of the net in all of their competitive games so far this season, and Birmingham have only failed to net in one of their seven fixtures. This fixture has also seen both teams score in four of their last five meetings, so odds of 4/5 for Both Teams to Score look like excellent value for money.

I think Ipswich will take the points in the end though, and odds of 15/2 for a 2-1 victory for the home side also look good.
