Ipswich vs Doncaster Predictions
Ipswich are on the rise in League One, but can they continue that against one of last season’s playoff semi-finalists? These two sides have hit their stride coming into this game, marking it out as a major clash early on in the campaign. The pair sit in the top seven despite playing fewer games than any other side in there, but who will hang onto their place?
Ipswich are starting to get into the groove of League One following four straight victories. The visitors have picked things up after a tough early run of results, which followed on from their dismal Championship campaign last time out. They haven’t done much to improve the squad, but the hosts are looking like one of the stronger sides at this level.
Doncaster were beaten by playoff winners Charlton last season, while they saw boss Grant McCann depart for Hull. Life under Darren Moore hasn’t been bad for the visitors, as a string of wins have lifted them into the top seven and onto the verge of the playoffs. That’s despite playing fewer games than any top-half side so far.
Ipswich are in for a test here as they clash with Doncaster for the first time since 2015. The Tractor Boys continued their strong record against Donny, as they have won five of their last six meetings with this weekend’s opponents. Ipswich have recorded four straight wins over Doncaster, while they will be out to add to that fine record here.
With four straight wins behind them, Ipswich look like good value for a victory this weekend. They have won three home games on the spin, while they’ve scored at least twice in their last five games. Given that run of form, we think that the Tractor Boys will be on a high going into this meeting.
Ipswich are starting to look like a side to fear in the third tier, which has seen them priced up as favourites here. However, we still think the Portman Road side are good value for a victory at a shade under evens. Their record of late and their head to head advantage over Donny makes us confident in a home win on Saturday.
The hosts are our pick to edge this one, but Doncaster have scored in every game so far. Ipswich have seen over 2.5 goals in their last six matches, so we see a few goals at Portman Road this weekend. We’re backing a 2-1 victory for Ipswich here alongside the home win.
