Ipswich can grind out the win at Portman Road

Ipswich should be backed to get a victory over Middlesbrough at Portman Road on Sunday.

Ipswich are second in the league, three places and points ahead of Middlesbrough, with both teams having won more games than they’ve lost this season. Ipswich have won 21 and lost eight of their 41 games, while Middlesbrough have 20 wins and ten defeats.

Ipswich are in excellent form at home, having gone 15 games unbeaten in the Championship.

They have been prolific in front of goal this term, scoring two or more goals in 21 of their 41 Championship games. They have averaged 1.74 goals a game in their 19 matches against other top-half teams this season, and have found the net at least twice in four of their last six games.

No defence has been meaner than Ipswich’s in the Championship this term, with just 42 goals against in 41 games. They have been impressive at home, conceding just 15 goals in 21 matches – an average of 0.71 goals per game.

Middlesbrough are in a rut, having not won in six Championship games.

Middlesbrough have been struggling defensively of late, failing to keep a clean sheet in seven of their last nine Championship games. Their last shut-out came against Blackburn last month.

A 1-0 win for Ipswich looks the correct score betting pick. The last time these two met in the Championship, there were three goals, but five of Middlesbrough’s ten defeats this season have come by a 1-0 scoreline.
