Ivory Coast Over 1.5 Team Goals

Reason for tip

Ivory Coast got off to a flying start with a 2-0 win over Guinbea-Bissau. The Elephants have now scored at least two goals in six of their last ten games, including each of their last four. Meanwhile, Nigeria have conceded multiple goals in three of their last six matches and appeared to lack some cohesion in their opening game.

Ivory Coast 2-1

Reason for tip

Ivory Coast are already clicking in this tournament, but Nigeria were inefficient in attack during their first game. The host nation has won five of their last seven games on home soil and can prevail 2-1 against a Nigeria side that has not won in four.

Seko Fofana To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Seko Fofana has scored six goals in his last 10 international appearances and could have had a double in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Guinea-Bissau, where he was denied a second by a fingertip save onto the crossbar.

Elephants are on the charge

Ivory Coast, the 2023 AFCON tournament hosts, can seal their place in the last-16 when they face Group A rivals Nigeria in Abidjan on Thursday.

The Elephants trampled all over Guinea-Bissau in their opening game, earning a 2-0 win courtesy of goals from Seko Fofana and Jean-Philippe Krasso.

The margin could have been greater but for a brilliant fingertip save from the Djurtus’ keeper to push another powerful Fofano effort onto the crossbar.

Fofana fancied to find the net

The Al-Nassr midfielder plays in a more advanced role for his country than he does for his club and probably has more license to go for goal than he would do alongside Cristiano Ronaldo. The ex-Lens star should be a threat again from distance against a Nigeria side that failed to go through the gears in their opening 1-1 draw with Equatorial Guinea.

Victor Osimhen scored the Super Eagles goal, but he was given very little service in a game that Nigeria should have won easily based on the transfer market value of each XI.

Something looks amiss with the three-time winners this time around and it would be no surprise to see Ivory Coast breaching their defence on more than one occasion in a thrilling contest.
