Draw 0-0

Reason for tip

A 0-0 draw is preferred in correct score betting as Benfica have played out three such scoreless draws in their last eight UCL away games. They have returned six clean sheets from their last nine Champions League road games while Juve were blanked in their last home Euro date.

Juventus vs Benfica Predictions

  • Juventus have drawn four of their last six games
  • Benfica have drawn four of their last eight away Champions League games, three of them 0-0.
  • Juventus have only lost two of their last nine home Champions League games.

Old Lady could struggle to tame Eagles

Benfica have picked up where they left off in the Champions League last season and offer enough of a threat to Juventus to make backing them at around evens look decidedly dodgy. The Old Lady are still untrustworthy against capable European opposition and Benfica can probably classed as such after making it to the quarter-finals of this competition last season.

Juve were hammered 4-0 by Chelsea in their big group stage clash last year, before exiting in the first knockout round following a tactical masterclass from Unai Emery. Benfica, on the other hand, came second in a group that featured Bayern Munich and Barcelona and knocked Ajax out in the last-16.

Now under the guidance of Roger Schmidt, the Eagles have won all five of their UCL games this term, including the Group H opener against Maccabi Haifa in very comfortable fashion.

One or both could be blanked

The Lisbon giants’ record away from home should be a real concern for Massimiliano Allegri as Benfica have avoided defeat in their last five Champions League road games. Juventus have won only one of their last five Champions League games, so taking the visitors in the double chance market would seem to be a sensible option.

But better odds exist around the draw of course and with Benfica having taken maximum points from their home opener, Schmidt’s team might feel as though a draw is good enough in Turin. Juventus, who were controversially denied a late winner by VAR against Salernitana on Sunday, have also drawn four of their last six games now.

Although the Italian giants have only twice failed to score in their last 15 European home games, a 0-0 draw is preferred in correct score betting as Benfica have played out three such scoreless draws in their last eight UCL away games. They have returned six clean sheets from their last nine Champions League road games while Juve were blanked in their last home Euro date.
