Las Palmas vs Deportivo La Coruna Predictions

Las Palmas come into this game as strong favourites for the win but Deportivo La Coruna have really improved over the past couple of months and have shown enough to suggest they can at least make a game of this and pose a few questions of their own.

The Galician side are unbeaten in 6 games coming into this one and although the last 4 have all been drawn, that’s still a significant improvement for a side that looked like relegation fodder at one stage in the season. They’ve still put in a few poor defensive performances, particularly on their travels where they’ve conceded 2 goals per game on average. That is a concern against a strong Las Palmas attacking unit but Depor’s forward play has significantly improved. Florin Andone has offered them a real outlet and has been a genuine goal threat in his first season at this level after a slow start and he’s had some capable support from the likes of Joselu.

There have tended to be goals at both ends in Depor’s recent games. That has been the case in 6 of their last 8 matches in all competitions and in 61% of their matches in La Liga this term. It has been a similar story for Las Palmas with 61% of their league games also producing goals at both ends. The Gran Canarian side have let in 1.61 goals per game, which is the 2nd worst defensive record in the top half of the division. They’ve defended better at home but there is still enough there to offer the visitors plenty of encouragement in the final third.

Las Palmas though should provide the greater overall threat. Striker Marko Livaja has shown signs he is getting his career back on track after never really making the grade in Serie A. The Croatian has 4 goals in 7 games coming into this and backing Livaja to score anytime looks a decent bet here.

His team are unbeaten in 13 home league games in La Liga but there have been a lot of draws and with Depor in decent form themselves, this should be a close game with chances at both ends, so backing Both Teams to Score at 4/5 looks a decent bet and the stats do tend to suggest that will be the case.
