Angers can show their steel

Angers have taken three points from their opening three Ligue 1 games and Le SCO are fancied to double their tally when they head for Le Havre. 

Stephane Gilli’s men were good 3-1 winners at Auxerre at the end of last month and that victory has been sandwiched between two defeats. 

However, Angers won the shot count 20-11 and recorded expected goal figures of 1.99 when losing 2-0 to a good Lille side at Stade Raymond Kopa, and while the result was not encouraging, the performance most certainly was. 

Le SCO were downed 2-1 at home by Rennes, who have made a strong start to the season, on Sunday, but against Gilli’s side had more efforts on goal and put up better xG numbers. 

Angers have been unfortunate not to take more than three points from their opening three French top-flight matches and compensation could await on Saturday. 

Le Havre have been outshot and outperformed on the data in their three league games against Brest, Lyon and Monaco. 

That’s not an easy run of fixtures, but the Dean Club are too short in this spot and can be opposed.
