- Leganes are winless in their last five matches in La Liga.
- Sevilla have lost only one of their last 12 league fixtures.
- Six of Sevilla’s last seven league wins have been to nil.
Sevilla stutter since El Gran Derbi victory
Sevilla returned to action in La Liga in the best way possible with victory over bitter Andalusian rivals Real Betis but they have drawn four matches in a row since.
While stalemates at home to Barcelona and away to an in-form Villarreal side are not to be sniffed at, the 1-1 draws with Levante and Real Valladolid were a touch concerning.
Sevilla are targeting a top-four berth in La Liga this term but a lack of killer instinct in the final third may well have stopped them from competing with Barcelona and Real Madrid in the title race.
Argentinian winger Lucas Ocampos has been their standout player with 11 league goals this season while Dutch striker Luuk de Jong has faltered with only seven goals in all competitions.
Leganes look toothless up top
That somewhat toothless nature in the final third is the reason why although they are on a nine-game unbeaten run, six of those matches ended all square.
But against Leganes they should not even need to be at their sharpest to get on the scoresheet, with the Cucumber Growers having shipped 46 goals in their 32 league contests this term.
They have only won five times in the league this season with only one of those wins coming in their last ten assignments and only two in 2020.
Since the league’s resumption they have lost three of their five matches, drawing the other two against plucky Granada and a Mallorca side they really needed to beat if they are to stave off the drop this season.
Sevilla aim to quash complacency in top-four chase
Leganes’s hopes of survival are looking increasingly desolate and there may be more incentive for Sevilla, who are looking over their shoulder at the likes of Getafe, Villarreal and Real Sociedad in the race for Champions League football.
Sevilla have also been particularly sharp on the road this season, winning the same number of away matches (seven) as at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
That considered, an away win looks a good match prediction and punters should anticipate a dearth of goals when opting for a correct score prediction.
Sevilla’s league fixtures have featured an average of only 2.44 goals per game and they have won 2-0 against Mallorca, Granada and Real Betis since the middle of December so that could be the way to go.
