Levante vs Athletic Bilbao Betting Tips & Predictions

Levante were battered 5-1 at relegation rivals Granada on Thursday night to leave them needing a big points return from their final 4 games to have any chance of beating the drop. They are bottom of the table and 5 points from safety and defeat here could all but relegate them. On a brighter note their home form is considerably better than their away form. They’ve won 5 and only lost 2 of their last 8 home matches and those 2 defeats came against Barcelona and Real Madrid so they’ve actually been doing very well at home since the turn of the year and that simply has to continue if they are to have a chance of staying up.

Athletic Bilbao are coming to the end of what has been an almost ridiculously long season given it started back in July in the early rounds of the Europa League which they remained in all the way until the Quarter Final stage. There are bound to be some tired legs but with Champions League qualification still not completely out of the question, they have motivation to keep going. They’ve won 3 of their last 4 away league games but were beaten 1-0 at home by Atletico Madrid in midweek and the continued absence of top scorer Aritz Aduriz is clearly hampering them.

This has the potential to be a good open game as it is one that both need to win and will approach like that. Failure to win for Levante would leave them with an absolute mountain to climb with 2 away games and a home match with Atletico Madrid still to come and at least 4 point deficit to safety. Athletic are 6 points behind Villarreal in 4th and may need to win all 4 of their final games to have a shot at 4th place so will also be going for it and therefore backing there to be over 2.5 goals at 23/20 looks appealing.

That allows for the possibility that Levante’s heads have completely gone following their midweek defeat at Granada, in which case Athletic could win comfortably. If that’s not the case and Levante play like they have been playing at home they are more than capable of winning this game despite their status as clear underdogs.
