Ludogorets vs FC Copenhagen Predictions

Ludogorets returned to action on Saturday following their winter break, and they did so in style, with a 4-0 thrashing of Montana in the Bulgarian First League. This leaves them an impressive seven points clear at the top of the table, leaving them with some breathing room to try and focus on the Europa League.

They made it through to this stage after finishing 3rd in their Champions League group behind PSG and Arsenal. They ended the group games with just three points to their name, all of which came in the form of draws and putting them nine points adrift of PSG and just a point ahead of Basel.

Ludogorets overall form is looking impressive though. With their mid-season friendlies included they are now unbeaten in 16 matches, including ten wins and a very impressive 2-2 draw away to PSG in their final group game.

FC Copenhagen haven’t returned from their winter break yet, meaning this is their first competitive fixture since the middle of December. Their recent friendlies haven’t exactly been great, but competitively you can’t fault their record. They have won eight and drawn two of their last ten games in all competitions, and their only defeat of the season is still their 1-0 loss away to Leicester.

Despite this excellent record they weren’t able to progress past the group stages in the Champions League, finishing two points adrift of 2nd placed Porto with a decent nine points from their six games.

Copenhagen’s dominance domestically has left them 11 points clear of their nearest rivals Brondby in the Danish Superliga, so they can focus heavily on their European campaign as well.

I’m giving Copenhagen a pretty good chance of success here. They have won their last seven competitive away games, including a victory away to Club Brugge. Their only defeat of the season has been a narrow loss to Leicester, whilst Ludogorets won none of their group games. Odds of 1.975 for a FC Copenhagen 0.0 Asian Handicap Win look excellent value considering the visitors difficulty to beat, so I’m going for that alongside a 1-0 win for them at 7/1 for my correct score predictions.
