Luton Double Chance (Win or Draw)

Reason for tip

Newcastle are winless in their last six away games and have won just two of their 13 competitive trips this season. Luton only narrowly lost to Manchester City and Arsenal recently and are yet to lose by more than a single goal at home, taking points off Wolves, Nottingham Forest and Liverpool.

Luton vs Newcastle Predictions

  • Newcastle have won just two of their 13 competitive away games this season and none of their last six.
  • Luton are yet to lose by more than a single goal at Kenilworth Road this season.
  • Two of Newcastle’s last four away games have ended 1-1.

Hatters show hopeful signs

Newcastle crashed out of the second competition in a week at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday and the Magpies’ away-day struggles could continue at Kenilworth Road in their last outing before Christmas.

The hosts’ meeting with Bournemouth was abandoned at 1-1 last weekend and, despite a three-game losing streak, Luton have been a more promising prospect than many imagined recently.

They were only narrowly beaten by Arsenal and Manchester City in recent ties and haven’t lost a home league game by more than a single goal yet, picking up points against Wolves, Liverpool and Nottingham Forest.

Magpies struggling on their travels

Newcastle did manage to get a comfortable three points on the board last weekend but their performances away from home have been concerning this term.

Eddie Howe’s side have only won two of their 13 competitive away games this season and the hectic fixture list is clearly taking its toll on the injury-ravaged squad.

Back the hosts to get something

As many as 14 first-team players could be absent for Newcastle on Saturday and, given they haven’t won any of their last six away games, backing Luton in the double chance market appeals.

Two of the Magpies’ last four trips have ended 1-1 and Luton have played out two 1-1 draws at Kenilworth Road this term, so that looks a feasible correct score prediction.
