Luton vs Wolverhampton Predictions
- Luton have avoided defeat in nine of their last 10 competitive home games.
- Wolves have won just three of their last 22 away league games going back to the start of last season.
- Luton competed well in defeat to West Ham in their only home game so far.
Early six-pointer at Kenilworth Road
It is perhaps too early to talk about ‘relegation six-pointers’ after just five rounds of fixtures, but it would be no surprise to see Luton and Wolves battling against the drop come the business end of the season.
The Hatters have lost all four of their league games so far and Wolves have just three points to show from their five ahead of Saturday’s meeting between these two sides at Kenilworth Road and the two respective managers will clearly have identified this as a winnable fixture.
First points for Luton?
Luton are the underdogs for this fixture and I’m going for the hosts in the double chance market here to pick up their first point or points of the campaign.
Admittedly, it is hard to make a strong case for the Hatters after a difficult start but they did compete well for periods against West Ham in their only home game so far and will benefit from the vocal support of the home crowd here.
Wolves have been poor travellers for some time and they managed just two wins in 19 attempts away from home last season. The Molineux side have picked up a road win this term but they were fortunate to claim maximum points at Everton and they’ve lost twice on their travels since.
Spoils could be shared
Goals have been an issue for both of these teams but clean sheets have been a rarity as well so a 1-1 result is the correct score prediction.
Luton have scored in nine of their last 10 home games, while Wolves have scored in each of their last five games across all competition so both teams look capable of getting on the scoresheet.
Wolves play some good football at times but are lacking that bit of quality, with the exception of Hwang Hee-chan. The South Korean has scored three of his side’s five Premier League goals and looks the best candidate for an anytime goal here.
