Lyon vs Amiens Predictions
- Lyon have won seven of their last eight matches in all competitions and go into this game two points off fourth.
- The home side have won seven of their last ten games at the Groupama with 21 goals scored in this time, including twelve in their last four.
- Amiens currently sit a point above the drop zone and are winless in the league since early November.
- Both teams have scored in six of Amiens’ last nine games in all competitions and in eight of Lyon’s last ten.
Lyon eager to bounce back from weekend hiccup
Lyon had been going from strength to strength before their trip to Nice at the weekend with seven wins on the bounce but le Gym managed to take them down a peg. Rudi Garcia’s men were unlucky to lose this match 2-1 as they played almost 70 minutes with ten men, however the same happened to their opponents at half-time so they did have their chances to level up the game.
It was a poor result but one that they’ll be ultimately desperate to rectify here and they will have a lot of confidence going into this one as they are the home side. They have been rather dominant at the Groupama recently with seven wins in their last ten at the stadium. They’ve scored 21 goals in this time with a whopping twelve coming in their last four although there is work to be done at the back. Les Gones have conceded ten goals in this time with just two clean sheets so will have to remain wary as they host Amiens.
The visitors bereft of confidence and points
Amiens had a great opportunity on Saturday to get some points on the board as they hosted fellow relegation battlers Toulouse. Somehow they managed to draw the game 0-0 and hand Toulouse their first result that wasn’t a loss since October. It was a disastrously wasted chance at the weekend and it could ultimately cause them this season as they now sit just a point above the drop zone.
The Unicorns haven’t won in the league since early November with just three draws interrupting this stretch of ten games. They’ve conceded 24 goals in this time but have been okay in attack with eight netted along the way. Generally in the final third they have been solid with eleven scored in their last nine away league games but their awful defence has really held them back this season.
Both teams to score on the cards?
Both sides got on the scoresheet when these teams last met in September (2-2) and we think the same could happen here. Both teams have scored in six of Amiens’ last nine games in all competitions and in eight of Lyon’s last ten. Therefore, we’re backing that market to come in here in a match that we expect to see most of its chances fall to the hosts. We’re going for a 3-1 win for Lyon.
