Lyon vs Auxerre Predictions

Over 2.5 goals looks the bet when Lyon host Auxerre at the Groupama Stadium on Saturday – six of the last seven Ligue 1 meetings between these sides have finished with over 2.5 goals.

Lyon are third in Ligue 1, 13 places and 29 points above Auxerre, with 16 wins from their 30 games this season, while the visitors have won just five.

Lyon are going for a third successive Ligue 1 win and beat Lorient 2-0 two weeks ago in their last home game. In contrast, Auxerre have recorded only one victory in their last eight league games.

Auxerre have shown defensive frailties in recent games, failing to keep a clean sheet in their last five Ligue 1 away games. They have also gone six of their last seven without a shutout against Lyon.

They have been in some low-scoring games of late – four of the last six have gone under 2.5 goals – but there were four goals in their clash with Monaco last weekend, when they drew 2-2.

Lyon may be able to edge out Auxerre in a close game, with a 2-1 home win the correct-score pick. Five of the last six Ligue 1 meetings between these sides have seen both teams find the net and Lyon were 2-1 winners against Paris Saint-Germain in their last league game. Auxerre have gone down by a single goal nine times this season.
