Tip Reasoning

  • Brighton have conceded more shots on target in their last four league games than the previous eight
  • Leeds have seen both teams score in nine of their 12 league games this term
  • Four of Brighton’s last five and four of Leeds’ last five matches have seen both teams score
  • Brighton beat Leeds twice last season and have won eight of their last nine league meetings with the Yorkshire outfit

Brighton need a boost

Graham Potter got Brighton off to their best ever Premier League start, but things have taken a bit of a turn. The Seagulls lost at Aston Villa at the weekend, with that defeat ending a streak of three straight draws in all competitions.

However, Leeds aren’t in a great position either, with Marcelo Bielsa’s side winning only twice this term. They’ve already been beaten on five occasions and a visit to the Amex still represents a huge challenge for the visitors.

Defensive issues for Seagulls

A big problem for Brighton of late has been their leaky defence, having gone five games without a clean sheet. They’ve conceded in their last two at home, while they’ve conceded more shots on target per game in their last four league matches (23) than in their first eight (21).

However, Leeds aren’t in much better shape themselves. They’ve kept only one clean sheet all season and they’ve conceded in every away trip so far, despite already travelling to face all of the current bottom three. Bielsa’s side have let in 1.83 goals per away trip this term and they’re likely to concede more.

Hosts to edge this one

Leeds have seen both teams score in nine of their 12 Premier League games this season and I’m backing more goals on Saturday. Both sides have seen BTTS land in four of their last five matches and we’re backing both teams to get on the scoresheet this weekend.

Brighton have won eight of their last nine league games against Leeds, including both meetings last term. The Seagulls have claimed all of their league wins against sides in the bottom-half and they can see off a Leeds side who have lost all three of their visits to sides above them. A 2-1 victory for the Seagulls is my correct score prediction.

Brighton predicted lineup: Sanchez; Veltman, Dunk, Duffy, Cucurella; Bissouma, Lallana; Lamptey, Trossard, March; Maupay

Leeds predicted lineup: Meslier; Llorente, Phillips, Cooper; Raphinha, Dallas, Struijk, Klich, Harrison; Rodrigo; James
