Reasoning
Maccabi Haifa vs Juventus Predictions
- Maccabi Haifa’s only home defeat in seven games this season came to group leaders Paris Saint-Germain (W 5, D1).
- Juventus haven’t won a single away game this season in all competitions.
- Juventus’ xG was only marginally better than Maccabi Haifa’s in last week’s 3-1 win in Turin.
Bianconeri look brittle on the road
There was huge relief for Juventus after snatching their first Champions League points of the campaign at home to Maccabi Haifa, but it will be much tougher for them to repeat that result in Israel on Tuesday. The Greens have lost only once at Sammy Ofer Stadium this term – a 3-1 defeat to a Lionel Messi-inspired PSG that was pretty close until the final few minutes.
The passionate home crowd should inspire Barak Bakhar’s men to similar heights against a Juve side that have had major struggles on the road this season. Massimiliano Allegri’s team haven’t won a single away game this season in all competitions, getting outplayed by lowly Monza and dismissed by AC Milan in their last two.
Juventus were boosted by the returns to fitness and form of Angel Di María and two-goal Adrien Rabiot in the 3-1 home win, but there is little evidence such a performance will be repeated here.
Juve won’t gobble up Greens
The Bianconeri’s xG figure of 1.67 last week was only slightly better than Maccabi’s 1.58. And, to fully illustrate how close the game was, Maccabi attempted 20 shots to Juventus’ 16 and managed to string together only 20 fewer passes than the hosts across the 90 minutes.
Hence the recommendation of Maccabi in the double chance market as opposing Juve seems the only logical thing to do right now.
A 1-1 draw is preferred in correct score betting as Juventus have scored no more than once in any of their five away games this term, being blanked three times. The Greens have kept only two home clean sheets and conceded exactly once in three of their seven home games.
