Mallorca vs Valladolid Predictions
- All but one of Mallorca’s 18 points this season have been gained at Son Moix. Los Bermellones beat Valencia 4-1 on Matchday 20 to bag their fifth home win of the campaign.
- Valladolid are now without a win in nine La Liga matches (D5, L4) following last weekend’s 0-1 home defeat against Real Madrid.
- Pucela travel to Palma this Saturday having won just one of their last ten La Liga outings on the road (W1, D4 and L5).
Sociedad defeat unlikely to affect Mallorca this Saturday
Despite a lively and spirited display in opening 45 minutes at Reale Arena last weekend, Mallorca were ultimately bowled over by Real Sociedad in the second half, and the 3-0 scoreline at full time marked a ninth defeat from ten outings on the road this season for Vicente Moreno’s side.
But followers of La Liga will have become accustomed to Mallorca’s hapless away form by now, and more importantly, the fact that their regular (and often comprehensive) beatings outside of Palma have little effect on their results and performances at home.
Mallorca have been a match for most sides at Son Moix this season, never more so than when slamming Valencia 4-1 last time out on Matchday 20, so punters shouldn’t be deterred from the hosts this Saturday despite their submission in San Sebastian last weekend.
Los Bermellones have claimed all but one of their 18 points in La Liga this term at home, and they will be confident that they can register their sixth win of the season at Son Moix against struggling Valladolid.
Valladolid slump to 16th as winless run continues
A well worked set piece was all that separated Valladolid and Real Madrid at Jose Zorrilla last weekend as Los Blancos ran out narrow 0-1 winners, but the result extended Pucela’s winless streak in La Liga to nine matches.
From a stable mid-table position, Sergio’s charges have now dropped to 16th after picking up just five points from a possible 27, and they head to Palma this Saturday just five points clear of the bottom three.
As such, this fixture has become a real six-pointer, and one which Valladolid desperately need to get something from. They readily dispatched Los Bermellones 3-0 at Jose Zorrilla in November’s reverse fixture, which will give them a fair amount of belief as they travel to Palma.
But a similar outcome here looks unlikely based on Mallorca’s relative strength at home and the fact that the visitors have won just one of their last ten La Liga matches on the road (W1, D4 and L5).
Back hosts to enhance Son Moix reputation
Mallorca’s impressive results at Son Moix this term make them an attractive bet at a touch of odds-against this Saturday, especially considering Valladolid’s lengthy winless run and poor record on the road this term.
Los Bermellones have accounted for much stronger sides than Pucela in Palma, as typified by their trouncing of Valencia a fortnight ago, and time has proven that their away defeats have had little impact on their confidence and approach at home.
So we’re backing a Mallorca win here on Matchday 22, alongside a 1-0 correct score prediction. Valladolid have only conceded 10 goals on their nine match winless run and are not a team that are regularly walked over, so the hosts may have to tough this one out by the odd goal.
