Malmo vs Real Madrid Predictions
Rafa Benitez has made a strong unbeaten start to life in charge of Los Blancos but a 2nd 0-0 draw of the campaign against lowly opposition at the weekend saw them lose top spot in La Liga and fall behind Villarreal and Barcelona.
They’ll be keen to go into the double header with PSG with maximum points having already crushed Shakhtar Donetsk 4-0 on the opening match day so there should be no messing around here and Benitez will name his strongest possible side. That though is still likely to be one without Gareth Bale, Sergio Ramos and James Rodriguez all of whom are suffering with injury problems.
They have coped well without the trio though especially at the back where Raphael Varane has excelled and contributed to a defence that has let in just 1 goal in 7 matches so far this season. Malmo don’t really possess the sort of firepower that should seriously test it either and their best hope of a goal could be from set-pieces although they may not see enough of the ball to win many of them.
The Swedes were beaten 2-0 away to PSG in their opening game and were beaten to nil home and away in the group stage last year by Atletico Madrid and Juventus. Their results suggest they are competitive against the lesser teams but once they come up against top quality opposition, which Real clearly are they don’t really have an answer for it.
Malmo aren’t even doing that well in the Swedish top flight and with only 4 games to go it is already clear they won’t be in this competition next season unless they win it, which clearly is highly unlikely. A very solid looking Real Madrid side should come here and secure a routine win without conceding and you can back that to be the case at 21/20.
They do have a huge Madrid derby to come at the Vicente Calderon at the weekend so once they have the game won, they are sure to withdraw one or two of their prized assets and won’t go chasing a big win for the sake of it. Therefore consider backing the visitors to secure a comfortable 2-0 win at 13/2.
