Mansfield vs Northampton Betting Tips & Predictions

Mansfield have hit a bit of a rocky patch in League Two recently. They were enjoying a very good season in comparison to last season’s relegation battle, but a run of five defeats, two draws, and just one win in their last eight League Two matches has put their playoff credentials in doubt.

This poor run of form has sent them down to 14th in the table, and whilst the seven point gap between them and the last of the playoff positions isn’t completely out of reach it seems unlikely that they can outperform all the teams above them by that extent.

Northampton have all but won the League Two title. They have a 13 point advantage at the top over 2nd placed Oxford United and also hold a game in hand, but they won’t want to put this position in any jeopardy by slacking off.

The visitors are unbeaten in the league since the middle of December, with 13 of their 16 League Two matches since then ending in victory. Away from home the story is even better, where they are unbeaten since October and have won all but two of their 12 away days since then.

Mansfield, on the other hand, have lost two of their last five home matches and find themselves a bit low on confidence after their poor run of form. Northampton have all the quality necessary to get a win on Monday, and odds of 11/8 for a Northampton win look incredibly good value. I’m also backing a 2-0 correct score prediction at 9/1.
