Marseille vs Lorient Predictions

• Marseille have lost just once at home in all competitions all season
• Lorient have lost seven of their last eight league matches, drawing the other

Marseille can all but end visitor’s survival hopes

Jean-Louis Gasset’s Marseille side suffered continental heartbreak in midweek as they were eliminated at the semi-final stage of the Europa League by Atalanta but they can return to winning ways domestically when they host a Lorient side struggling to pull themselves away from the relegation zone.

The Olympians have lost just once at the Stade Velodrome all season – this coming against champions PSG at the end of March – and only Lille have taken more points at home than Marseille’s 33 in Ligue 1 this season.

Les Merlus meanwhile are on a run of six consecutive defeats and are three points away from Metz – who currently occupy the relegation play-off spot – while Regis Le Bris’s men have also lost each of their last three on the road.

Marseille have scored at least twice in four of their last five home games in the league and should be able to bag another brace on Sunday. However, Lorient have netted in two of their last three and so a consolation goal could be on the cards as we a predict a 2-1 victory for the hosts.
