Middlesbrough came back from the international break by travelling to Peterborough United and earning an emphatic 4-0 victory over Grant McCann’s side. That result puts them fifth in the table and well in the fight for a playoff spot – they also have the added advantage of having a game in hand at least over the sides around them. Boss Chris Wilder will also be pleased with his defence of late as that win over the ‘Posh’ marked the third straight game that Boro have managed to keep a clean sheet.

The ‘Cottagers’ were able to maintain their lead at the top of the table as they made the short trip to QPR and managed to clinch a 2-0 win of their London rivals. That result also moved them to within eight goals away from setting a new Championship record during the regular season. They’re averaging 2.42 goals per game this season so it seems a matter of when and not if they break that record. It’s worth noting however that this will be the fifth straight away match for Marco Silva’s men and you have to wonder whether fatigue could play a part after so much travelling.
