Nantes in danger of the drop

Monaco have had a season to forget so far but they have been solid enough at home and won’t get many better opportunities for a home win than the visit of Nantes on Friday.

Sebastien Pocognoli’s men have had a tough fixture list recently, and with Paris Saint-Germain awaiting in the Champions League on Tuesday things don’t get any easier.

They should enjoy this lowering of their sights then against a Nantes side who have lost 13 of their 21 league games and currently occupy a spot in the relegation zone after losing four in a row.

The Canaries have only kept three clean sheets all season and their defence has been suspect recently, shipping nine goals in their last four outings.

Monaco could also be vulnerable at the back

Nantes lost the reverse fixture 5-3 and while a repeat of that scoreline looks unlikely, Monaco are still fancied to come out on top of this one.

However with an ever increasing injury list and a Champions League knockout tie looming, the hosts may not go full strength and Nantes could find the net in defeat.
