Czechia to Win and Under 2.5 Match Goals

      Reason for tip

Czechia have won all six previous meetings with Montenegro, including a 2-0 success in Plzen back in June. Montenegro have only ever scored one goal against Czechia and tend to struggle against higher-ranked opposition. This is a match the visitors can edge.

      Czechia 1-0

      Reason for tip

Czechia won 2-0 against Montenegro on home soil and although they should triumph again, it may not be as emphatic when they head to Podgorica. Czechia will certainly want to tighten things up after conceding five against Croatia last time out and they may be happy to grind out a close-fought 1-0 win.

      Montenegro vs Czechia Predictions

      • Czechia have won all six previous meetings with Montenegro
      • Montenegro’s only defeat across their last five matches came against Czechia in June
      • Czechia’s defeat to Croatia last time out snapped an eight-match unbeaten run

      Czechia aiming to bounce back

Czechia made a wonderful start to World Cup qualifying, winning their opening three games in Group L, including a 2-0 home success over Montenegro in June.

That victory extended their perfect record against Montenegro, as they have won all six meetings previous between the two sides, conceding just one goal in the process.

However, that latest victory was followed by a 5-1 loss to Croatia that has not only dented Czechia’s hopes of topping the qualifying section – although they do still sit in first place – but it also snapped what was an eight-match unbeaten run that included six victories.

      Montenegro set for familiar feeling

Ivan Hasek will hope his side can bounce back quickly from that setback in Osijek, but they will be facing a Montenegro side that have only lost one of their last five, although that defeat was, of course, to Czechia.

Montenegro have beaten Gibraltar and the Faroe Islands in this qualifying campaign – two teams they would expect to overcome – but they struggled when facing higher-calibre opponents during last season’s Nations League, losing five of their six games and failing to score in four of those defeats.

There could be a familiar feeling for Montenegro on Friday, as although they can keep this competitive, they may come up short, with Czechia primed to secure a narrow 1-0 success in Podgorica.
