• Morocco recently held AFCON holders Algeria to a 1-1 draw in the FIFA Arab Cup.
• Ghana lost 3-0 to that same Algeria team just a couple of weeks later.
• Ghana failed to win seven of the 11 all-time H2Hs between these nations.

Atlas Lions head into AFCON in roaring form

Even without the talismanic Hakim Ziyech in their squad, Morocco look a top class outfit heading into this AFCON tournament with the likes of Sevilla pair En Nesyri & El Haddadi, PSG star Hakimi, QPR star Chair and more set to feature here.

While they have not won this tournament since 1976 and they are not amongst the front runners in the outright betting, you would be a fool to underestimate this Morocco team who have conceded just twice within 90 minutes across their last 13 games (W12, D1).

Ghana need consistency to go far

Look out for a few familiar faces in this Ghana squad such as Arsenal’s midfield man Thomas Partey, Leicester’s Daniel Amartey and Jordan Ayew of Crystal Palace. There is much more talent than those notable Premier League stars, but they will need those guys firing if they want to go far.

Ghana finished in the top-four in six of the last seven AFCON tournaments, aside from a round of 16 exit in the most recent edition against Tunisia on penalties. Moreover, Ghana only won one of their three group games en route to progressing.

Overall, I think Morocco just about edge this clash at a brilliant price given the consistency of their team selection and terrific form across the last few years. I expect the Atlas Lions could win this one by a slender 1-0 margin to announce themselves in this competition.
