Hosts enjoying a purple patch

The hosts have put a fine run of form together as they’ve suffered just a single loss in their last five Ligue 1 matches. It’s taken Nantes to within just four points of a European spot ahead of this matchday and they’ll fancy their chances here given how well their forward line has been performing. You’d have to go back to 2000/01 to find the last time the hosts scored more goals after 21 rounds (26) – a season where they finished as league champions.

Visitors Lorient are in the middle of the relegation scrap at the bottom of the table and it seems to become a much more dire situation as each game week passes. They’re winless across their last 14 Ligue 1 matches and haven’t secured a victory since December last year. It doesn’t look as though it will get any easier here as they possess the worst away record in the division, conceding 2.27 goals per away game on average whilst scoring just 0.72 per away match themselves.

A home win on the cards

The visitors haven’t won away from home all season, despite 11 attempts and we don’t see them picking one up here either. We do however think this one will be rather tight as neither side is prolific and tend to rely heavily on their backline. Avoiding defeat will be the main objective and so we think there will be fewer than three goals here, with the hosts claiming victory.
