Napoli to Win and Under 3.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Napoli have won 11 of their last 13 games in Serie A, while the leaders have also kept six clean sheets in their last nine matches. With Luciano Spalletti likely to change his team ahead of next week’s Champions League second-leg clash with AC Milan, Verona – who have seen six of their last seven matches contain under 3.5 goals – can keep things competitive.

10/11odds when tipped

Napoli 2-0

Reason for tip

Napoli have scored multiple goals in 11 of their last 13 league games, while only Lazio have shipped fewer than their 21 goals against in Serie A this campaign. With Verona failing to net in four of their last seven, Spalletti’s champions-elect should march on.

Napoli vs Verona Predictions

  • Napoli have won 11 of their last 13 matches in Serie A.
  • Verona have only won one of their last seven games (D2 L4), six of which have contained under 3.5 goals.
  • The hosts have kept six clean sheets in their last nine matches in Serie A.

Napoli have bigger fish to fry?

Napoli saw their chances of a dream Serie A and Champions League double suffer a blow as they succumbed to a 1-0 defeat in the first leg of their European quarter-final tussle with AC Milan on Wednesday, but Luciano Spalletti’s men should not be ruled out ahead of next week’s second leg – when they will have Victor Osimhen back fit and available. Before then, there is the small matter of a Serie A contest against struggling Verona, and while the leaders are huge favourites, they may not win at a canter.

Napoli have won 11 of their last 13 games in Serie A, and they bounced back from a surprise 4-0 league defeat to Milan by edging out Lecce 2-1 last week. Spalletti’s men have been excellent at the back of late, keeping six clean sheets in their last nine league games, and the prospect of changes in the frontline ahead of their return fixture against the Rossoneri may mean they rely on their rearguard here. Crucial duo Kim Min-jae and Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa are suspended for next week’s game, so they will not be among those rested if Spalletti rings the changes here.

Verona were hammered 5-2 by Napoli on the opening day of the season, but they have at least tightened things up as they battle to avoid the drop under Marco Zaffaroni. The Gialloblu ended a seven-game wait for a victory by beating Sassuolo with a stoppage-time winner from Adolfo Gaich last time out, moving them to within four points of safety. Six of Verona’s last seven games have contained under 3.5 goals, with Zaffaroni’s men failing to net on four occasions, and punters should not expect them to play an open game here.

Leaders should march on – but goalfest unlikely

Napoli’s superb form and excellent defensive record – which is only bettered by Lazio in Serie A this term – makes them clear favourites to beat Verona, but the possibility of Spalletti making changes between their two meetings with Milan means the visitors should keep things respectable.

With Verona likely to sit in and attempt to frustrate Napoli, backing the hosts to win a game containing under 3.5 goals appears a strong play, while a 2-0 home victory could represent a solid correct score selection.
