      Newcastle vs Watford Predictions

It looked promising for Newcastle on the opening day of the season. They earned a 2-2 draw against Southampton and saw their new signing Georginio Wijnaldum score on his debut.

But it’s all been downhill from there. They looked devoid on any sort of creativity when they lost to Swansea the following week, and it was only thanks to heroic defending that they avoided defeat against Manchester United.

Their Capital One Cup win was a brief respite, but they resumed their disappointment by losing to Arsenal.

Their most recent game was against West Ham. They kept the ball for long period of time but failed to do anything positive with it. Right back Darryl Janmaat was their most creative player, and a brace from Dimitri Payet gave West Ham the three points.

This makes it four league games without a goal for Newcastle, and with new striker Alexsandar Mitrovic still suspended it’s not looking promising that they will end that against a solid looking Watford defence.

And they are solid. They managed to keep Swansea out last weekend as they battled towards their first Premier League win of the season. They even played with ten men for a good portion of the game.

The weekend before they did a good job against Manchester City until the title challengers’ class finally shone through.

Watford finally broke their own scoring duck against Swansea as well, with Odion Ighalo’s winner being their first since the opening day of the season.

Along with Mitrovic’s suspension, Newcastle are also missing Paul Dummett, Emmanuel Riviere and Sylvain Marveaux through injury.

Meanwhile, Watford’s Valon Behrami and Miguel Britos are suspended, whilst Joel Ekstrand and Lloyd Doyley are still injured.

I think Watford can push on and get the victory here. Newcastle once again look like a broken team, and Watford will be high on confidence after ending Swansea’s unbeaten streak. Odds of 1/1 for a Watford Win (Draw No Bet) look really good value as well.

I’m betting it will be a low scoring game, so odds of 4/6 for Under 2.5 goals look good too, as well as a 1-0 win for Watford at 8/1.
