Can Nice bounce back?

Nice suffered an absolute mauling in Europe in midweek, as they were beaten 4-1 by Lazio in Italy.

Franck Haise blamed the quality of the pitch, which was ruined by the wet weather, for his side’s limp display, but the fact remains they have now lost three times in eight games this season.

Two of those defeats have come by a cushion of at least two goals, and it will be no comfort to him to see Nice’s next opponents are Paris St-Germain, whom they have beaten in only three of the last 22 head-to-heads.

The visitors therefore ought to be confident of bouncing back form their own disappointing European display in midweek, as they were beaten 2-0 by Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League.

Domestically, though, PSG have been bullet proof, winning five of their six outings, each of them by at least two goals.

Indeed, nobody in Ligue 1 comes close to the 20 goals they have netted so far, while they are unbeaten in 27 top flight away matches, stretching back to February 2023!
