Nigeria vs Cameroon Predictions
- Nigeria have only lost one of their last 11 matches
- Cameroon have only been victorious in two of their last eight games
- Both teams have scored in Cameroon’s last five matches
Nigeria’s firepower to be too much
Nigeria were runners-up in the Africa Cup of Nations’ Group A behind surprise winners Equatorial Guinea after drawing with those opponents and seeing them top the section on goal difference. There were plenty of positives to take from the Super Eagles’ first three matches however and they represent a tough challenge for Cameroon in this round of 16 matchup.
The Indomitable Lions were firmly put in their place by Senegal in the group stages, losing 3-1 to the reigning champions. A 3-2 win over Gambia in their final group game secured their passage to the knockout stages but they could have been more convincing.
Vincent Aboubakar may be fit for Cameroon after missing the group stages but Nigeria’s attacking options still stand out, with Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Moses Simon, Samuel Chukwueze all impressing. The fact that Kelechi Iheanacho is yet to play a minute of the tournament demonstrates the embarrassment of riches that Nigeria have going forward and that could be the difference.
Goals on the cards
Cameroon’s attacking style can leave them open at the back and with Nigeria’s attacking talents, expect this to be a high-scoring clash. Both teams have found the net in Cameroon’s last five matches so side with a 3-1 win for the Super Eagles.
