Northern Ireland -1

Reason for tip

Northern Ireland can end a strong 2025 on a high when they host Luxembourg on Monday. The hosts won 2-0 when these two met at Windsor Park last year, and they’ve improved since then. Four of the visitors’ five defeats in qualifying have come by at least two goals.

Northern Ireland 3-0

Reason for tip

O’Neill’s NI side are ahead of schedule and they’ll be looking to both sign off on a strong year and lay down a marker ahead of March’s playoffs. They scored three goals in the reverse meeting in September, while NI have conceded only twice across home meetings with Switzerland, Iceland, Slovakia, and Germany in 2025. Meanwhile, the visitors have lost their last four to nil.

Isaac Price To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Price has scored four goals in nine games for NI in 2025, while he scored the opener when these two sides met in November last year. After three games without a goal, back Price to return to scoring ways for the hosts.

Northern Ireland vs Luxembourg Predictions

  • Luxembourg have lost by 2+ goals in four of their five qualifiers so far
  • NI won 3-1 when these two met in September, while they beat Luxembourg 2-0 at home last year
  • Isaac Price has scored four goals in nine games for NI this year

NI aim to end on a high

Northern Ireland’s 1-0 loss in Slovakia on Friday ended their hopes of a top-two finish in World Cup qualifying. However, results elsewhere guaranteed them a place in March’s playoffs thanks to their Nations League record, so it wasn’t too discouraging for Michael O’Neill’s young side.

The manager has spent recent months reminding everyone that his side are ahead of schedule to have even contended in this qualifying campaign. He’s slowly rebuilt the core of the squad, following the departures of the players who led NI to Euro 2016.

2025 has been a huge step forward for NI, while they have a huge prize to look forward to in March. For now, O’Neill will want his side to finish the year on a high against a Luxembourg side who have lost all five games in this group.

The visitors were beaten 3-1 by the Ulstermen in their opener, while they’ve lost three of the following four games by at least two goals.

NI scored twice home and away when these two sides met in the Nations League last year, including a 2-0 win in Belfast. Back them to ease to a victory ahead of March’s playoffs. O’Neill has little reason to rotate here, so frontman Isaac Price is backed to return to scoring form after netting the opener when these two sides met almost a year ago. Price has scored four goals in nine games for NI in 2025, but he hasn’t scored since September.
