Norwich vs Brentford Predictions
- Brentford have lost eight of their last nine games
- The visitors have lost five straight league trips
- Brentford have conceded at least twice in each of their last nine away league matches
- Norwich have won four of the last six league meetings between these two
Vital run for Canaries
After their 2-1 FA Cup loss at Liverpool this week, Norwich now turn their focus to the final stretch of games in their bid to avoid relegation. The Canaries put up a fight at Anfield, which is certainly a positive sign ahead of the first game in a vital run.
Norwich have a home double header across five days, before facing Leeds, Brighton and Burnley. They need to be picking up points against their fellow strugglers, which right now includes this weekend’s opponents
Worrying slide for Brentford
Brentford have picked up just one point from their last 24 available in the Premier League (W0 D1 L7). In all competitions, the Bees have lost eight of their last nine matches. That slump has taken them down to 15th in the table, just three points clear of the drop zone.
Brentford look incredibly vulnerable right now, having scored once across their last four games, while they’ve shipped almost half of the goals they’ve conceded this term across their last eight matches.
Brentford are winless in their last six league games against Norwich (D2 L4), which isn’t a good sign going into this clash either. With the visitors losing seven of 13 trips so far – including each of their last five – it’s worth backing against the Bees.
Vital victory for Canaries
Norwich earned their first Premier League win of the season in the reverse fixture against Brentford in November and I see them claiming another vital win in this clash. They’ve suffered after a really tough run but it wasn’t that long ago when Norwich took seven points from a possible nine.
Given the issues Brentford are facing, the hosts look like good value for a vital win. It’s tough to have faith in the visitors, who concede too many and aren’t scoring enough. Given that, side with Norwich for the points in this one.
Brentford have conceded at least twice in each of their last nine on the road, with no side doing that in 10 straight Premier League trips since 2010. Given that Norwich are the league’s lowest scorers, I’m tipping that run to end here in a 1-0 loss.
Norwich predicted lineup: Krul; Aarons, Hanley, Gibson, Williams; McLean, Gilmour, Rupp; Sargent, Pukki, Rashica
Brentford predicted lineup: Raya; Ajer, Jansson, Pinnock; Canos, Baptiste, Norgaard, Janelt, Henry; Mbeumo, Toney
