Nottingham Forest vs Watford Predictions

  • 12 of Nottingham Forest’s 14 league games have featured fewer than 2.5 goals.
  • All seven of Watford’s away matches have also produced less than 2.5 goals.
  • Watford have won just once from seven starts on their travels, drawing four.
  • Forest have lost just one of their last five outings at the City Ground (W2, D2).

Watford Away Form Gives Forest a Squeak

With third-placed Watford flattering to deceive on the road, strugglers Nottingham Forest may be able to break a run of three straight league defeats when they square off against the Hornets this Wednesday night.

Forest’s miserable campaign continued on Sunday with a 0-1 defeat here against Swansea City, the result marking a third straight loss without a goal being scored for Chris Hughton’s men who simply can’t break the shackles down at the bottom of the table.

They sit just two points clear of the drop-zone going into this midweek round of fixtures and on the face of it, they face a difficult task once more against third-placed Watford who impressed throughout a 4-1 drubbing of Preston on Saturday.

But Watford have been average at best on the road this term and head to the City Ground with just one win from their seven away starts thus far. They’ve drawn four of those matches, and the hosts may just be able to eek out a precious point in what should be a low-scoring contest.

All seven of Watford’s away starts have produced under 2.5 goals, with the same applying to 12 of Forest’s 14 league matches overall. Hughton will again set his side up to be tough to beat and this, combined with Forest’s limited ability up front and Watford’s lack of firepower on the road (just three goals netted in seven games) means under 2.5 goals rates a great bet for Wednesday’s action.

Despite the difference in quality between these sides, Watford can’t be supported for the win after just one away victory this season, while it’s important to note that Forest’s weekend defeat here was their first in five outings at the City Ground. So alongside out under 2.5 goals prediction, we’re also tipping up a 1-1 correct score.
