Orlando City vs New York Red Bulls Predictions
Orlando City visited New York Red Bulls under two weeks ago searching for a win against a home side who had lost four on the trot after a dreadful start to their MLS Supporters Shield defence. Instead they came away on the end of a 3-2 defeat despite going a goal up inside five minutes, extending their own winless streak to three matches.
This has since been extended further to four matches after their draw at New England Revolution at the weekend, a result which puts their record at two wins, two defeats, and four draws in their opening eight matches. This sees them sitting in 4th position in the MLS Eastern Conference, which would be considered a successful finishing position considering the team is under two years old.
New York Red Bulls are down in 8th position, a far cry from their top of the table triumph last season which saw them lift the MLS Supporters Shield. This is thanks to an awful start this season where they lost six of their opening seven matches.
Their win against Orlando City has been followed by a 4-0 triumph over this seasons’ Supporters Shield favourites FC Dallas, so there is hope for them yet if they can produce performances like that.
Both teams have seen some defensive collapses this season, but have also been fairly good going forward. Orlando City have scored in every game so far this season, but have only kept one clean sheet and conceded 13 goals already.
New York Red Bulls have also kept just one clean sheet, but have managed to score seven goals in their last two matches and have averaged over a goal per game so far this season.
Five of the visitors’ last eight outings have seen at least three goals scored, and Orlando City have seen more than two goals scored in each of their last five. This makes odds of 10/11 for Over 2.5 Goals and Both Teams to Score look good value for money to me. I’m going for a high scoring 2-2 draw at 10/1 as well.
