• There have been three or more goals scored in six of Plymouth’s last seven home games

Bad Week For Plymouth

League One leaders this time last week, Plymouth have slipped to third in the table after defeats to Charlton and Wycombe, failing to score in both games.

Ryan Lowe’s side were unbeaten in 16 league fixtures before the Charlton game, but their defence has started to cost them, with the Pilgrims having kept just one clean sheet in eleven league matches.

A response from the last seven days is expected at the DW Stadium and it would be wrong to write off their goalscoring hopes, given they have racked up 32 of them in 19 games.

But the other end of the field remains a concern and is an area this Wigan side can exploit.

Wigan Heading Back To The Championship?

After a handful of barren years, Wigan seem to be back on track and they rescued a point away to Cambridge on Tuesday, coming from 2-0 down in the last six minutes, to ensure they have still only lost one league game on the road this season.

In fact, the Latics have notched up 20 goals already on their travels, comfortably the best record in the division. Their eight league games away from the DW Stadium have contained 27 goals in total, an average of over three a game.

I expect more goals in this one. Leam Richardson’s side have scored in every league game so far, with over half of them containing three or more goals.

I predict that that trend will continue. Plymouth have a good attack but are struggling defensively, whereas Wigan are terrific in the final third. I think there will be three or more goals, and recent form guides me to a 2-1 victory for the visitors.
