Pontivy GSI vs PSG Predictions

PSG have won this competition each of the last four years and will be aiming for yet another victory as Thomas Tuchel sets his sights on his second piece of silverware at the club. The Parisians have been ripping up France this year with the German’s attacking style of play paying dividends in pretty much every competition. PSG have scored a whopping 73 goals in their 25 games this season and show little sign of stopping with ten scored in December alone. They will be aiming to continue this form against Pontivy here.

Their attack has been so dominant but unfortunately their defence hasn’t matched the quality. They have kept just one clean sheets in their last six games despite facing Ligue 2 Orleans and Red Star Belgrade who finished rock bottom of their UCL group. This has been a concerning factor for Tuchel’s side this season which has seen the club linked with Ajax’s Matthijs de Ligt in a bid to sure up this leaky backline. They have been so dominant up front that this hasn’t turned into much of a problem but they need to keep an eye on this before it develops into something serious.

GSI Pontivy suffered a poor start to their season this year but have managed to claw it back with an unbeaten run which has now stretched to eight games with seven wins in the process. They have kept four clean sheets in that time and have contributed to what is becoming a fantastic home record. Pontivy have only lost one of their last twelve matches at the Stade Municipal du Faubourg de Verdun and have won each of their last five on home soil, conceding just one in that time.

Just one of Pontivy’s last five home games have seen over 2.5 goals but we think that will change with the Champions coming to town. PSG have been so good in front of goal this season and have won nine of their last eleven away games. There are four divisions separating the two teams here and although Pontivy have a great home record, we’re expecting PSG to blow the Championnat National 3 side away in a 4-1 win here. Paris’ defence has been shaky while Pontivy have scored nine in their last five so we’re expecting both teams to get on the scoresheet here.
