Portland Timbers vs FC Dallas Betting Tips & Predictions

Portland Timbers started the new MLS campaign in exactly the same way in which they ended it, with a 2-1 victory over Columbus Crew. Their opening match of the season was a rematch of the MLS Cup Final that was played back in December, and a repeat of the scoreline boded well for Portland Timbers fans.

However, that was their last win. They have since lost two and drawn two of their four MLS matches, with their five point return putting them in a disappointing 9th position in the MLS Western Conference.

FC Dallas were one of the pre-season favourites to lift the Supporters Shield this season, and while their start hasn’t been spectacular they are still in with a good chance of it.

They beat Philadelphia Union in their opening game of the season before falling to an unexpected and humbling 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Texan rivals Houston Dynamo. They have since won two and draw two of their four MLS matches, results which put them in 3rd position in the Western Conference.

With Portland Timbers in such poor form this season the visitors will feel like they have a real chance of taking something away from them on Thursday. In fact, the Timbers home form hasn’t been especially good for quite a while. Only three of their last ten home matches in the MLS has seen them win in normal time.

This makes odds of 7/10 for an FC Dallas Win or Draw Double Chance look good value to me, but I’m backing a 1-1 correct score prediction due to the fact that Timbers have only lost two of their last ten home games.
